Something Interesting : Jeff Harris

Jeff Harris looking at a Jeff Koons Sculpture

Jeff Harris has a picture of himself representing every single day of his life since January 1st 2006. Thousands of images, some taken by Jeff himself, some taken by friends and some taken by total strangers. What results is part diary and part timeline. Analysed individually, a single image is fairly unremarkable but as a whole they tell a powerful story. When this project began Jeff had no particular vision in mind and he didn't set a deadline for how long he would continue he just jumped right in. The interesting part has been how it has affected him and the way he lives his life. In some ways it has pushed him make certain that he gets out and does something interesting each day and urges him to live his life to the fullest. More recently he has been stuggling with cancer treatments and the toll on his body when compared to earlier pictures is obvious. Even though many of the pictures do document his treatments many of them do not. He talks about how this project has given him perspective and kept him positive during this time.

"If I didn't have theese pictures I may look back at those five months and think that when I had cancer but now when I look back at those five months I see, no I had a bit of cancer.... but I did alot of other interesting stuff."
